Rethinking our food can have so many positive effects.  More conscious food choices usually equals more fresh, local ingredients which equals less transportation, less packaging, and less unhealthy filler ingredients.  Supporting local growers and food artisans is great for the community, and choosing to make more foods at home, rather than buying pre-packaged, usually saves money as well.

There are countless recipes and resources online, but sometimes that can make the switch to at-home cooking feel even more overwhelming.  Instead of just calling Aunt Sue or Grandpa Joe for a family recipe, people are now wading through lists of thousands of online recipes.  Decision-fatigue definitely has taken its toll on me during meal times.  And while the idea of from-scratch foods appeals to me very much, I realize this isn’t everyone’s idea of fun.  And, the reality is that learning new skills AND having the time and energy for doing every meal Little-House-on-the-Prairie style is just not very feasible.

I haven’t made a lot of videos on this topic yet, but it is one I think about a LOT.  I hope to add to this repertoire as I go and possibly have some more in-depth offerings about food-related ways of reducing and reusing.
